Meet The Koalas
After meeting almost 10 years ago on a classic European backpacking tour, packing up and travelling the world has been a dream we’ve shared for years.
In January 2026, we finally took the leap, packed up our lives and left behind the familiar to embark on our multi-year backpacking adventure around the world.
Together, we created Watch Out Koalas About, to share our journey, keep our families updated, and have something to look back on when we’re old and grey. We hope you also find some inspiration for upcoming trips, learn about some unlikely destinations, a few travel tips, and surely a few laughs about our adventures along the way.
Beau is a physiotherapist turned full-time traveller and now budding YouTube vlogger. He has a passion for adventure, storytelling and discovering what makes destinations unique. After years of dreaming about exploring the world, he deciding it was time to start living the adventure. Whether he’s researching the next destination, capturing the little moments on camera or finding ways to stretch the budget a little further, Beau is the logistics behind our travelling operation.
Emily brings creativity, organisation and curiosity to every adventure. From finding the best local restaurants, to the perfect sunset spot, she loves discovering the details that make each destination memorable. Behind the scenes, she’s the calm balance keeping the chaos of full-time travel under control… well, most of the time. She believes the best memories come from embracing the unexpected and appreciating the little moments.
